I’ve been trying to get better at wrong foods that Dwarrow would eat that isn’t just “spiced *insert meat here* with *type of bread* and *type of cheese*” so I have some thoughts:
Who’s to say they don’t like salads??? Maybe they do but are such haters that they automatically refuse to eat the elven salads??? Who’s also to say that the elves version of salads are pretty bland, with like lettuce/cabbage, cucumber, and some nuts with a ginger-y dressing or NO dressing?? Who’s to say that they aren’t more used to things like fruit salads or bean salads??? Who’s to say that elven food isn’t inherently more simple in flavor when they’re more used to complex flavors and salads?????
Like you’re gonna look me in the eyes and say Kili wouldn’t eat a salad with roasted corn, chickpeas, avocado, jalapeño, shallots, pepitas, and fresh basil??? With a nice creamy lemon pepper dressing???? Or that Fili doesn’t seem the type to enjoy a strawberry salad with spinach, toasted pecans, avocado and fresh mozzarella, with a nice balsamic dressing??? Or that Dwalin wouldn’t CRUSH a Bacon-cabbage panzanella?????? Maybe Thorin would enjoy a harvest salad and quick-pickled pomegranate seeds!!! Have you ever considered that maybe Dis loves a good Acorn squash salad with a Tahini vinaigrette????

Also to add onto this post:
Since it's cannon that they were wandering around Middle Earth trying to find work food and shelter, I have a he that some of the elves (why they used to have a amicable trade relationship with before Thror) stoped viewing them as 'useful' and stopped communicating with them as a whole (*cough* Thranduil *cough*) even some were still kind to them, but the Dwarrow were very much jaded by Thranduil and his continuous treatment of them.
So I love the idea of after Erebor the Dwarves were sold less desired cuts of meats. Things that were considered 'leftovers' to the rest of the world. Cuts of meat that are tougher bc they get used more by the animal or we're just considered 'undesired' so things like Brisket, pork ribs, ears, and chitterlings (which are the small intestines). So they had to prepare the meat in various ways to make it enjoyable. Like smoking brisket and heavily flavoring the meats. And when they found comfort in Erid Luin they continued to cook the meats the same way. They can will and have batter, fry, and boil anything to make it enjoyable.
Like they would grind corn into corn meal for grits and corn bread, the works. Like i personally take a lot of Durin's Day celebration from Lunar New Years but the food from what is known about the rations enslaved people were given and how they created soul food aka the food synonymous with the south.

The idea of them being given the 'bad' meats and creating something out of nothing.
Because they as a species are nothing but resilient.
Like yes, Dwarrow do like collard greens and various fabrics. Do NOT fight me about this.
I'm right.
